UK Prog Metal Band TesseracT Return To Australia Off The Back Of New Album 'Sonder'

UK progressive metal heavyweights TesseracT are hitting Australian roads this September in support of their latest album ‘Sonder’. The tour will kick off at Perth's Amplifier Capitol then will head down to Adelaide's The Gov. The east coast will host the last three shows, stopping at 170 Russell in Melbourne, Metro Theatre in Sydney and Triffid in Brisbane.

‘Sonder’ came out last April as the band’s fourth studio album. It is a follow up to 2015’s ‘Polaris’ and features eight cuts. It is actually their shortest release thus far—running a little less than 40 minutes when played in full—but the amount of effort and artistry in ‘Sonder’ is undeniable and is absolutely more than enough to please the ears of metal lovers. The ‘Sonder’ tour will see TesseracT playing all the tracks off the album in a live setting, once again treating fans to nights of polyrhythmic riffs, haunting vocals and an overall disorientating atmosphere.

On behalf of the band, TesseracT’s rhythm guitarist James Monteith expressed his gratitude to fans and excitement for the upcoming tour in a chat with Volume Media. “Thank you very much for supporting us through the last few records, Australia is amazing to us and we’ve always had a great time; and we can’t wait to see you later in the year,” he said.

Joining them as special guests will be Melbourne prog metal act Circles. The band have been one of those that are stirring the evolution of Aussie heavy metal scene since 2009. They are currently riding on their just-released single ‘Blueprints for a Great Escape’ and are celebrating their recent signing to record label, Wild Things.

TesseracT were formed in Milton Keynes, England in 2003. They are credited as one of the purveyors of djent music movement, a sub-genre of progressive metal that’s characterised by low-pitch, distorted and high drain guitar sounds as well as palm-muted riffs layered with some elements of groove. So far, they’ve released one live and four studio albums. The last couple of years have also seen their fan base balloon, especially after the release of their third album ‘Polaris’. Apart from Monteith, other TesseracT members include Daniel Tompkins (lead vocals), Amos Williams (bass), Jay Postones (drums, percussion) and Acle Kahney (lead guitar).
