Ben Harper, Carlos Santana, Iggy & The Stooges and Wilco – these were among the acts announced this morning to play the 24th Bluesfest next year.
It’s the seventh appearance by Harper, who rates Bluesfest as the best festival in the world. It’s taken Bluesfest boss Peter Noble ten years to finally get Santana. Wilco is another act whom the festival’s 100,000 members rate highly on their wish-list. Noble told The Music Network, "The challenge with Wilco is that they’re always in demand. Last year, for instance, they toured Europe two or three times."
Iggy & The Stooges make their Bluesfest appearance as part of their final tour together.
Other acts announced were Chris Isaak, Bonnie Raitt, Dropkick Murphys, Steve Miller Band, Glen Hansard with The Frames, Tedeschi Trucks Band, William Elliott Whitmore, Newton Faulkner, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls, Grace Potter, Playing For Change and Ben Caplan.
Today’s was the first of four artist announcements in the run-up to the five day festival, which is held at its Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm between March 28 and April 1.
