East Meets West Orchestral Concert combines classical music from the East and West, including two tremendously acclaimed Chinese masterpieces ‘Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto and ‘Yellow River’ Piano Concerto, alongside other enchanting works. Under the expert leadership of music maestro - Guy Noble, this special concert features a sublime 60-piece symphony orchestra and an all-star cast of Australian emerging soloists, just to bring a perfect musical celebration for everyone to enjoy.
The beautiful yet haunting ‘Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto is a synthesis of Eastern and Western music traditions, juxtaposing pentatonic melodies with a Western harmonic support. This world-known concerto, based on an ancient legend, is also known as the Chinese ‘Romeo and Juliet’, celebrating romantic love.
Another Chinese masterpiece ‘Yellow River’ Piano Concerto integrates a classic post-romantic music structure with passion, beauty and strength, along with technically advanced solo phases, which represents the high spirits of Chinese people passing through generations.
Don't miss out this rare opportunity to experience an exquisite Australian tribute to eastern musical heritage.
“this mix of the drama of Verdi, the coquettish charm of Carmen and the beautiful Chinese piece of the Butterfly Lovers. All the music in some ways is about love, but we see it from different cultural angles. They quite different but they share many things in common.”--Guy Noble, conductor
