After three years of pandemic-related cancellations, the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne are reigniting their 160-year-old rivalry for their historic Australian Boat Race.
The men's and women's rowing eights will battle it out on the Sydney Harbour Course, racing 4.5 kilometres from Woolwich to Darling Harbour on Sunday, October 16.
The long-standing tradition between Australia's two oldest universities is based on the famous Oxford and Cambridge University Boat Race, an annual competition featuring current and alumni rowers.
The last race took place in 2019, and after a long wait to the finish line, the University's alumni, students, local community, and sporting talents are looking forward to a nail-biting end.
There are two packages on offer to experience the milestone race.
Australian Boat Race Gold Package includes breakfast, live music, full commentary, a view of the finish line and the entire race on the large screen, waterside presentations, and other goodies. They will also attend a post-race function on the Darling Harbour for a buffet brunch, sparking wine, and an opportunity to meet the athletes.
Australian Boat Race Silver Package includes breakfast, live music, full commentary, a view of the finish line and the entire race on the large screen, waterside presentations, and other goodies.
